Crafting a World Pride Inspired Theme for MCCDC

Overview
For World Pride 2025, hosted in Washington, D.C., I served as lead designer on MCCDC’s Pride Planning Team—a small but passionate group of seven, committed to amplifying the church’s presence during this historic event. I developed a visual campaign that spanned digital graphics, print materials, social media, and a custom apparel line, all rooted in the theme Every Thread Divine – Weaving Justice, Love & Inclusion for ALL.
Impact
Boosted visitor and livestream attendance during Pride season (May 17–June 8)
Fostered new partnerships with inclusive faith and community orgs
Apparel sales raised significant funds to support MCCDC’s mission
Theme & Identity Development
Inspired by the official World Pride DC theme, The Fabric of Freedom, we asked ourselves: What would that fabric look like for a faith community grounded in radical inclusion and sacred connection?
We explored imagery of threads, stitching, and weaving—symbols of co-creation and divine design. The phrase Every Thread Divine emerged as a reflection of our belief that every being is sacred. To give the theme purpose and motion, we added a phrase that felt like a mission: Weaving Justice, Love & Inclusion for ALL. This addition emphasized MCCDC’s commitment not only to people but to all of God’s creation.
I designed a logo that evoked quilting and tapestry—nods to legacy, craft, and interconnectedness—while also honoring MCCDC’s long-standing presence in the LGBTQ+ faith community. The final result is a theme and visual identity that celebrates unity, history, and hope.
